I Hit You Because I Love You, Says Bush
That is basically what this news item says. I guess no one can call me a liar when I say that calling in sick to work and sleeping in saves millions of lives, huh?
Oh my God, tell me about it. I don't know why people can't get this through their heads about the US: Liberty is supposed to be more important here than safety. Yes, a freer society is less safe. That's what you get.
I, personally, would rather have more rights than feel "safe" by having my bag searched randomly on public transportation or being asked for my "papers" as I'm minding my own business walking down a city street.
In other words, yes, I would rather that we were a little less safe than a little less free. And we have to follow our own rules all the time, not just when it suits us.
