Time to Shut Up and Heal

You will not believe what happened last Sunday. I fell. AGAIN. My knee is pretty messed up. AGAIN. I worked from home for two days AGAIN. Apparently, if I injure the same area three times in four months, I finally am willing to admit that I need serious medical help. After an appointment with my orthopedist and X-rays, it has been decided that physical therapy is in order. If that doesn't help, I'll need an MRI/cat-scan for soft tissue damage.

I guess my body doesn't like me being stingy on healthcare so I'm going to suck up the physical therapy bills and make sure I get better. I have a $2,000 deductible on my health insurance so they will cheap out on my physical therapy bills up to $2K. I am planning on pitching a fit for every bill and demanding the logic for every denied payment. Terms like, "pre-existing condition" and "denial of service" will be used as bludgeons.

The main concern is if my falls are due to strength problems, balance problems, or stroke damage reaction delay. I also have figured out something new about my falls since I was looking for patterns. The last two tumbles happened 8 days after the end of my period. Ooh, I feel like House now! So hormone levels? Which lead to hypochondriac research and I really don't think it's menopause Mr. Internet, thank you.

Quincy Road Construction Nightmare

I drive through the intersection above every single day. It wasn't designed in the best manner taking into account Quincy drivers' temperament and traffic flow. The Quincy driver temperament is "I don't care about right of way, here is my horn, I am in a rush everywhere." Stop signs are mere suggestions and blocking intersections is par for course. Also, it is not unusual to see a car pissed at the long line of cars ahead of him, bombing down the wrong side of the street so he can take his precious turn.

Thanks to road construction, this intersection has turned into this:

A 5 way intersection - oh joy! Initially there were cops directing traffic (and finally taking notice that no one heeds the stop sign from Mechanic St.) Now, there is no help. So driving errands I need to check my right, my left, and my left to get through this mess. I can't figure out why there needs to be a 10 foot thick berm in front of the Greek Orthodox church. I wonder if this is just the beginning of Quincy driving adventures thanks to the revitalization project?

I'm A Sappy Nerd

So, there is a TV couple that makes me giddy as a 13 year old girl. I obsess over every smile, and baby step towards coupledom. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, this couple is Ben Wyatt and Leslie Knope. Enjoy this little fanvid fellow Beslies/Wypes:

And boy did they take a big step last week! If your dogs started howling Thursday night, that is because I was squealing hyper-sonically.

No, I Did Not Get in a Bar Fight

This first photo is my left ankle which suddenly developed horrible bruising and swelling a week after my South Station fall. Weirdly enough, I thought I had hurt my right ankle! There was a lot of pain for the first week and now it has gotten yellower. The pain is more like a dull throb. I didn't go to the doctor because I have crappy insurance. Getting my knee checked cost me $400 back in February (Orthopedist, x-ray and lost work hours). Since I'm mobile, it can't be that bad, right?

This hand slicing is courtesy of Stella. On the up side, it helps distract from my ankle! Yeah, Stella doesn't like getting her claws clipped. I tried the whole wrap in towel thing which set off her beserker rage. Rasputin came running to help defend his mama. Good boy! I was dripping in blood and it seemed to take forever to clot (gotta love an aspiring regimen). I have a ton of scratching items for cats and I hope using those will keep her claws under control. It's that or being sedated by the vet.
